NZ Olympic Anthem has unique links to diversity

Diversity NZ's avatarUnique Ability

“Stand Tall”, the anthem chosen to represent New Zealand in the 2012 Olympic games, has a unique link to mental health, Deaf and disability communities.

The song is penned and sung by busker samRB, who has experienced mental illness.

The video, below, features ex-comedian Philip Patston who experiences unique physical function, as well as school children signing the chorus.

An NZSL Sign Singing ‘Stand Tall’ music video was also produced by Striped Trees Productions “…to help [Deaf New Zealanders]  experience Stand Tall in a most beautiful way, and in tribute to New Zealand Sign Language Week 2012 (30th April – 6th May)”.

What a great statement of pride in and respect for diversity for Aotearoa to be sharing with the world.
